Tsunami of 24 April, 2017 (Valparaiso, Chile)

A strong earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.9 (USGS magnitude) occurred at 21:38:26 UTC 24 April, 2017 (day 114) and was located wwm/35 km W of Valparaiso, Chile (33.073S, 72.051W, 25.0 km/ 15.6 mi depth -- USGS location).

This earthquake produced a tsunami that was recorded at tide gages monitored by the National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC). Many observatories provide data to the centers; such as the NOAA National Ocean Service, the U. of Hawaii Sea Level Center, the Chilean Navy, the Japan Meteorological Agency and the National Tidal Facility in Australia among others.
